So, when is hair loss in men normal? Hair loss can be temporary or permanent. It can affect your scalp as well as your entire body. Losing hair from scalp is normal but it’s common in men. It can be a result of normal ageing, heredity, medical conditions or hormonal changes.

1. Scalp Disorders

The loss of hair in men occurs due to scalp conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis. Other conditions that lead to hair fall are fungal infections and folliculities i.e, the hair follicles inflammation caused by bacterial infection.

2. Genetics

1. Biotin

Biotin is one of the B complex vitamin which helps in converting food into energy. Taking biotin supplements or biotin – rich food in diet may slow hair fall. To control hair fall problems, include biotin – rich  food like oats, eggs, onion, nuts and sweet potatoes in your diet.

2. Minoxidil 

Minoxidil is also known as Rogaine. Rather than promoting hair growth, it prevents more hair loss or slowing down hair fall. Massage this foam once or twice daily. Use Rogaine’s with 5% concentration to get better results. Applying minoxidil is safe as there is no burning or itching of scalp. 

3. Finasteride

The brand name of finasteride is Propecia. It is taken orally. Finasteride restrains an enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT. It causes hair loss in men. This prevent further hair loss and helps in growing hair. Take one pill a day and you will see improvement in density of hair overtime.

4. Laser therapy 

For the treatment of hereditary hair fall, The Food and Drug Administration has approved a low level laser device. Few studies have shown that it improves hair density. To get long-term effects, more studies are required.

5. Hair Transplant Surgery 

Normally in most of the hair loss cases, only the top of the head is affected. It can be treated through hair transplant surgery. 
During this procedure, the cosmetic surgeon or dermatologist removes hair from your head and transplant it to a bald spot. As it is a painful procedure, so a sedation medicine is given to ease any discomfort. There are some possible risks such as swelling, infection, bruising and bleeding. To get the proper results, you need more than one surgery. With this hair transplant surgery, hereditary hair loss will eventually progress.
